The thing is, I like much better trying out cool new toys, than actually producing great stuff. So I need to get over it.

And just do it.

When you twitter in Ubiquity in Firefox in OS X, it appears that nothing happens. Use Expose, and find the hidden window asking for your twittername and password. It will not show itself, but you can select it for focus, and type blindfolded.

Should not really be necessary, but thanks to theAppleBlog for the recepie.

I wanted to have Sqeezecenter automatically rescan my music library every night, so if I added new music, it would just show up on my Squeezebox. Squeezecenter runs on an Ubuntu box.

In /etc/cron.daily I added a file called squeezecenter_rescan, and put the following in it:

wget -q -o /dev/null “http://localhost:9000/status?p0=rescan&;cauth=secretsecretsecretsecretsecret”

What the cauth parameter actually contains depends on your setup, you will find it if you run the http request in any browser not logged in to Squeezecenter without the cauth alltogether, and add “.html” right after “status”, like this:

http://localhost:9000/status.html?p0=rescan

Replace “localhost” if the browser is on a different box from the Squeezecenter server.

This picture is historic. Taken in december 2003, showing my neighboors, at that time, and myself doing “mochi-tsuku”. I am the foreigner. This is in Tokyo, and a tradition everywhere in Japan. You bang on rice until it becomes a big blob, then you eat it. Tastes great.

The historic part is how the image ended up here: It was given to me on a floppy, put in a drawer, relocated with me from Tokyo to Oslo, then relocated again with me within Oslo, until I discovered it while cleaning up. I remembered it, shoved it in my old IBM USB floppy drive, plugged it into my Powerbook, and expected nothing. But without any hitch, the images on the floppy showed up beautifully!

This is one of them.
